River City Repertory Theatre made history when it opened Lillian Hellman's THE LITTLE FOXES on June 29 2006, becoming the first Actors' Equity sanctioned, professional theatre company in the history of the Shreveport-Bossier area. As a matter of record, we're also the first professional theatre to exist in the northern part of our State!
River City Rep, through its membership in Actors’ Equity, the national organization for theatre professionals, blends the best of local, regional and national talent. River City Rep is a traditionally structured, not-for-profit organization and is governed by a Community-Based Board of Directors.
River City Rep opens the door to a multitude of opportunities for our local students and actors who wish to pursue careers in theatre, while also featuring guest actors, directors and designers from across the nation. The best theatre practitioners from the region can now develop their art right here in North Louisiana, thus contributing to our state's cultural economy. By tapping into an incredibly deep talent pool, River City Rep also benefits the growing film industry in Louisiana. Patrons can now experience the highest caliber of professional theatre -- right here in Shreveport!
